Dubrovnik Return mixed

8-day Dubrovnik Return Croatia Sail
Every Tuesday, Jun to Sep 2021

DUBROVNIK - KORCULA - HVAR - SPLIT - MAKARSKA - MLJET - DUBROVNIK

Our 8-day Dubrovnik Return Croatia sail tours take in the very best of the Dalmatian coast - cruising to islands such as Korcula, Hvar and Mljet, while also staying 2 nights in Dubrovnik and 1 night in Makarska.
The itinerary is designed to give you the best of both worlds: sightseeing, swimming and relaxing during the day, followed by excursion options, nights out, parties and events in the late afternoons and evenings.

With our experienced, fun crew, like-minded shipmates (choose between the 18-39 or 39+ age-range boat) and a choice of different category ships (see OUR BOATS), you are in the right hands for the trip of a lifetime!

The full itinerary for your Dubrovnik Return Cruise is below.

Dubrovnik

Jump on board and meet your Captain, crew and shipmates. The boat remains in Dubrovnik tonight so you don't need to worry about missing the boat if you have a late bus or flight. Official check-in is from 5pm and your Welcome Speech and Welcome Dinner is at 6pm. There are plenty of things to do and excursions in Dubrovnik, so you can leave your luggage on the boat in the morning or early afternoon and do some of them!

We recommend:

(1) Doing the awesome buggy safari - you are taken to Mount Srd to get a bird's eye view of the Old City and Elaphite Isles before driving an off-road buggy around the mountain. Unmissable!

(2) Taking a cable car ride up to Mount Srd for the most incredible view imaginable (note: buggy trip takes you past same cable car station for same view at no extra cost!).

(3) Dubrovnik is also the setting for the capital city of Westeros, Kings Landing, in Game of Thrones. If you are a fan, why not take a walking tour of the locations of the most famous scenes in the ultra-popular show and get an overview of the history of Dubrovnik at the same time on a combination walking tour?

(4)  Take a shuttle boat over to Lokrum Island from the Old City.

There is no lunch today - you have dinner instead! Dinner is served onboard at 6.30pm and then the evening is yours again to enjoy in the Old City. Overnight on the boat in Dubrovnik.

Optional excursions: Buggy Safari and/or Game of Thrones+Dubrovnik Walking Tour.

Dubrovnik to Korcula

It's goodbye to Dubrovnik and hello to more incredible scenery as we head to Korcula Island, which is said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. The Old City (with the same name as the island) is another gem which hosts a small street party in the evening at the Deja Vu Bar!

Optional excursion: Wine-tasting. Korcula and its neighbouring peninsula, Peljesac, are famous for both red and white wine. This tasting session includes 5 wines: white, red, rose and even a prosecco!

Korcula to Hvar Island (Hvar Town or Stari Grad)

Hvar Island is rated as one of the highlights of the trip and it's not hard to see why. Hvar Town's pocket harbour is a thing of beauty but you only get to truly appreciate it after climbing up to the fort that overlooks the whole bay.

We arrive after lunch but we are not able to dock until late afternoon/evening due to port restrictions. We strongly recommend taking a water taxi from your boat over to the city to get there earlier (3-4 Euros per person payable directly to the taxi)
Hvar's nightlife is also legendary and we recommend catching the sunset at Hula Hula bar or taking the organised shuttle boat over to Carpe Diem - the famous (but pricey) "club on an island".

IMPORTANT: Hvar Town's small port is often overcrowded in peak months (end of Jun to end of Aug) and the port authority may order the boat to dock elsewhere, such as Stari Grad, about 35 mins by bus from Hvar Town.

Hvar Island to Split

Our final, full day starts with a swim stop in the morning at one of the many Pakleni Islands near Hvar and we then continue past Brac Island over to the largest city on the Dalmatian coast, Split.
In the afternoon, you have enough time to take in some of the inspiring sights of this city, including Diocletian's Palace, Mestrovic's "Gregory of Nin" statue and Bacvice Beach.

If you fancy something more adventurous then we can also transfer you to Omis for a rafting excursion on the River Cetina.

Optional excursion: River Rafting

Split to Makarska

We have the morning free in Split to explore the old city (especially useful time if you went river rafting the day before), as we depart Split for Makarska at 1pm and get the cruising time started with lunch and a swim stop.

We get into Makarska late in the afternoon, giving you time to go around the town, grab a gelato and have dinner in one of the many restaurants, pizzerias and tavernas that line the promenade. The most popular way to spend the night is at the famous Club Deep, also known as the "Rave in a Cave". Say no more.....

Makarska to Mljet

Our boat leaves early for the crossing to Mljet Island. After lunch, we will dock in either Pomena or Polace and have the rest of the afternoon free to explore this island's stunning National Park and its lakes - the peaceful antidote to Makarska's hedonism!

There are several options for this exploration: hire a bike for a few hours and pedal your way around the lakes' cycle paths, hire a kayak for paddle-power or simply go hiking. We also offer an onboard BBQ this evening as the setting is perfect.

Optional excursions: Entrance to Mljet National Park (approx 110 kunas), bike or kayak hire (from 50 kunas), Captain's BBQ (approx 100 to 150 kunas, depending on inclusions).

Mljet to Dubrovnik

With some gorgeous bays around Mljet island, we are spoilt for choice for a swim stop this morning. We then cross to Dubrovnik through the Elaphite archipelago of islands - a truly amazing sight.

We arrive in Dubrovnik in the early afternoon, which gives you time for some must-dos, including a sunset walk around the famous walls and sampling a cocktail at one of the cliff bars as you watch the sun go down.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in and around the Old City, as well as events at clubs such as Revelin.

Optional excursions: Ziplining over a beach near Dubrovnik (approx 250 kunas), Game of Thrones + Dubrovnik Historic Walking Tour (approx 150 kunas).

Day 8

Dubrovnik

After breakfast it is time to say goodbye to your shipmates and crew. Check-out is by 10am but the adventure does not need to end here!
If you missed the Buggy Safari or Game of Thrones walking tour when you first boarded the boat you can leave your luggage onboard and do them this time around:

(1) Buggy safari - you are taken to Mount Srd to get a bird's eye view of the Old City and Elaphite Isles before driving an off-road buggy around the mountain. Unmissable!

(2) Dubrovnik is the setting for the capital city of Westeros, Kings Landing, in Game of Thrones. If you are a fan, why not take a walking tour of the locations of the most famous scenes in the ultra-popular show and get an overview of the history of Dubrovnik at the same time on a combination walking tour?

Enjoy your day in Dubrovnik and we hope you have loved your cruise with us! Options for further travel include Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina (especially Mostar and Sarajevo).

Optional excursions: Buggy Safari and/or Game of Thrones+Dubrovnik Walking Tour.

Q: What time is check-in in Dubrovnik on day 1 (Tuesday)?
A: Official check-in is from 5pm. However, you can always come to the boat earlier and leave your luggage onboard until your cabin is ready (which can often be before 5pm). Dinner is included from around 6.30pm onwards and the first overnight is in Dubrovnik port (Gruz).
Q: What time does the trip finish?
A: The boat docks back into Dubrovnik on Monday afternoon and then overnights in Dubrovnik. Breakfast is from 7.30am onwards on the Tuesday and check-out must then be completed by 10am (unless you are doing the buggy safari in the morning).
Q: What are the sleeping arrangements in the cabins?
A: Most of our cabins can be suited to couples who would prefer a double, or twin beds (2 separate beds) for friends who don't wish to share a bed. Please let us know your preference in advance - we can't always match your preference but we try to as best we can according to the configuration of travelers.
Q: What about triple cabins, for 3 friends in one cabin?
A: Three friends can share one cabin - 1 person in a separate bed and 2 in a double bed. There is a 5% discount on each passenger's space for triple-sharing.
Q: What is the arrangement for solo travellers?
A: Solo travellers would have to share a cabin with another solo traveller or third person from another group. We try to match people up according to gender, but this is not always possible due to passenger configurations. There is always the option of a single supplement as well (see below).
Q: If I don't want to share my cabin, can I pay a single supplement?
A: Yes, you can pay a single supplement. Our single supplement is 50% extra. You must book your single cabin in advance.
Q: What is the difference between 18-39s cruises and Mixed-age cruises?
A: As the name suggests, our 18-39s cruises are for people in that age bracket, although we do sometimes make exceptions, for example, if a couple has one person in 20s/30s and the other in 40s. Mixed-age cruises are for people over 39, families (people over 39 travelling with children in their 20s, or teenagers for example) or people who want a cruise that is "less lively" than an 18-39s cruise. The youngest age acceptable on a mixed age is 10, and oldest is 59.
Q: What are the bathroom arrangements?
A: Every cabin has its own ensuite bathroom as standard. Our A-Category boats have a shower and toilet in a wet room style, whereas our A-Extra and Premier Plus boats have a separate fitted shower in the ensuite.
Q: What about the air-conditioning arrangements?
A: Every cabin has its own air-conditioning unit. The air-conditioning can be switched on or off as you please.
Q: What is the difference between above deck and below deck cabins?
A: Above deck is on the main deck and lower deck is in the hull of the boat. There are advantages and disadvantages to both - lower deck cabins are more peaceful at night as you do not have other passengers walking past your cabin as much as the above deck cabins. Above deck cabins are brighter with more natural ventilation and most open out onto the sea.
Q: What food is included?
A: You will have 2 meals everyday which consists of a continental breakfast (bread, spreads, with varieties of fruit, yoghurt, sausages etc throughout the week), and 3-course lunch (soup to start, followed by meat/fish/pasta/rice dish and a dessert).
Q: What if I am vegetarian or have other special dietary requirements, how can you help me?
A: Please tell us about your special dietary requirements before your cruise starts and our onboard cook will do their best to cater for them.
Q: Can I bring my own food and drink on board?
A: You can't bring your own food on board, apart from for special dietary requirements. This also applies to drink: drinks are not allowed to be brought on board (including water) as the boat runs its own bar on a tab system.
Q:Can I pay for my bar tab by credit card?
A: Our boats do not have card facilities onboard. All payments for your bar tab can be made only by cash locally on your last day before you check out of the boat. The cash payment can be done in Croatian Kuna, Euro, or a mixture of the two.
Q:How many people will be on my boat?
A: Between 25 to 38 passengers, with 4 or 5 crew members.
Q:What nationalities and ages are on board?
A: Most of our guests are aged between 18 and 39, with the majority falling in the twenties and early thirties bracket. They are from English-speaking countries (UK, Ireland, Australia, NZ, South Africa, Canada, USA), EU countries (mostly Western Europe) and others such as Israel and Brazil. We also have special 39+ age-group cruises running every year.
Q:What if I miss, or am going to be late for the boat's departure?
A: Please let us know as soon as you can and we will advise you on where to catch up with the boat.
Q:How much spending money should I bring?
A: Personal spending money amounts obviously vary from person to person but as a general rule around Euro 25 to Euro 30 per day can cover additional meals, drinks off the boat, ice-creams and optional entrances.
Q: Do I have to have any insurance?
A: We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance before you go.
Q: Are there any power sockets on board?
A: Our boats have power sockets in the cabins and in the salon area. They are European 2-pin sockets so don't forget your adaptors if you need them!
Q: How do I get to Dubrovnik?
A: We have a whole page on our website dedicated to getting to Croatia and Dubrovnik. Please click on it here.
Q: Are there towels provided on board?
A: Some bathroom towels are provided but you should definitely bring your own beach towels.
